Estancia Quemquemtreu

Estancia Quemquemtreu is a 250,000-acre working ranch, a 1.5-hour drive due west of San Martin/Chapelco airport, in the heart of Patagonia. Nestled in the shade of magnificent Lombardi poplars near the Rio Quemquemtreu, the lodge and ranch complex of corrals, polo fields and manor house is home to a small self-contained hacienda community. It is the classic Patagonian ranch with comforts of home for guests and hosted by a delightful Anglo-Argentine couple, Martin and Paula Zimmerman. Fishing here is a combination of daily float trips on the Rio Collon Cura, well-known for large browns and rainbows, or wade fishing the pocket water of the Rio Quemquemtreu. A delicious lunch is served streamside with guests returning to the lodge for cocktails and dinner each evening. For first-time visitors to Patagonia and families that have diverse interests, Estancia Quemquemtreu is a must, as you can fish, horseback ride, hike, or just explore life on the ranch in the company of well-trained and attentive guides. Listed in Patricia Schultz, best selling book, 1,000 Places to See Before You Die, Estancia Quemquemtreu is a must destination for those who like off-the-beaten-track places.
